Register ASAP For Monarch Butterfly Tagging Event at Josie’s Cabin

The Division of Wildlife Resources continues to provide amazing learning experiences for the public with one this weekend you won’t want to miss. Biologists from around the Basin will be tagging monarch butterflies and the public is invited to have a front row seat of the action. In December 2020, the monarch butterfly was designated as a candidate species for listing under the Endangered Species Act, due to dramatic population declines since the 1980s. In an effort to better understand monarch butterfly populations, the DWR is partnering with Dinosaur National Monument officials, Utah State University and other organizations on conservation efforts. The event is Saturday, August 14th from 8 to 11am at the historic Josie Morris Cabin. The event is free, but there is a $25 entrance fee per vehicle to enter Dinosaur National Monument, which is where the cabin is located. Get registered right away at www.eventbrite.com and search ‘Monarch Butterfly Tagging’.
