Fourth of July weekend was filled with celebrations and fireworks and gratefully only one wildfire near Vernal. The wildfire that was named the Snake John Fire was burning Southeast of Vernal on Friday evening. It was estimated to be 20 acres and was threatening nearby oil and gas sources. By Saturday morning, the fire had progressed to 100 acres and was 40% contained and the oil and gas infrastructure was no longer threatened. By that afternoon, it was 60% contained and had progressed to 650 acres. Come Fourth of July afternoon the fire had been fully contained.
