Uintah County Community Development has added their voice to those urging residents to prepare for spring runoff. The SNOTEL report from March 4th shows that snowpack for areas of the Uintah Basin range from 112 to 155 percent of normal. “If the wet pattern continues through the spring we could see a significant amount of runoff,” shares Uintah County Community Development. “Now is the time to prepare. If you live near a river, creek, canal or drainage or if you live in a FEMA designated floodplain or in an area that has flooded in the past now is the time to start thinking about protecting your property.” Local farm, ranch, and hardware stores have sand bags in stock and all are encouraged to purchase Sand bags can be purchased at local farm and ranch supply, hardware and farming stores. It is the property owners responsibility to protect their own property, shares Uintah County Community Development. County resources are designated to protect critical infrastructure.
