Dino Trails Committee 2020 Year In Review

2020 was a good year for the work of the Dino Trails Committee and committee member Aaron Averett made that the focus of a recent presentation before members of the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. “Progress had been very good and particularly this year under the direction of Trails Coordinator Mike Cook,” explains Averett. “Monies to develop the trails have come from State Parks grants and various other grants that have been received.  Some trails that have been completed or in progress are the Halfway Hollow, Ages/Brush Creek Trail, Red Fleet Downhill Flow Trail and several bike lanes around Vernal. Trout Unlimited has become involved in the Brush Creek Trails project and when completed will stock additional fish in the creek to  provide a ‘Fish and Walk’.  Red Fleet Downhill Flow Trail is completed and provides an advanced, down hill, bike trail. We have a lot to offer in our county and this provides more ways to see and enjoy.” Projects that involved the trail committee that were completed in 2020 include the Flow Trail, wayfinding system, bike lanes and bike friendly routes, and the Uintah County OHV Master Plan. The trails that were funded in 2020 were the Kids Canal rebuild/service canal trail, Brush Creek/Ages Trail, and Moonshine Arch Trailhead that will begin construction this spring.
