As of October 19, 2020, the Duchesne County Commissioners have adopted a Trails Master Plan. This plan contains over 150 potential trail projects throughout the county. On November 2nd, the County Commissioners passed a resolution establishing a County Trails Committee. According to a press release shared Monday, the Commissioners are now seeking seven citizen volunteers to serve on this committee. “Committee members will be selected to represent the following areas of the County: Altamont/Upper Country, Duchesne, Fruitland, Myton, Neola, Roosevelt and Tabiona/Hanna. Interested citizens should demonstrate to the Commissioners, in their application to serve, an interest in at least one of the following types of trails: safe routes to schools, road cycling or mountain biking, OHV or ATV riding, equestrian, dirt biking, hiking/walking paths or paddle boarding. Committee members will serve four-year terms. Committee members will be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred in serving the County and shall receive staff support from the Community Development Department.” Those interested are asked to call the Duchesne County Community Development Department at 435-738-1151.
