While there has been reports of increased crime there are ways locals can be proactive in order to protect loved ones and property. “We did see an uptick of thefts in west Uintah County and Ballard recently,” shares Uintah County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Brian Fletcher. “Those incidents are currently under investigation but it’s believed the suspect in the majority of those incidents is in custody in the Duchesne County Jail. It is important to remember our communities are great places to live, but we aren’t exempt from crime. Folks should keep their homes and vehicles locked up, keep an eye out in their neighborhoods for suspicious or strange activity and report that activity to local law enforcement when it happens. Also, small investments into things like doorbell cameras and lights are great and serve as a deterrent to those with bad intentions.”
