Vernal Theatre: LIVE’s Season 5 opener ‘Slipper and the Rose’ is winning over audiences and there’s just three chances left to experience this unique production for yourself. The cast is a great mix of local community theatre alums and fresh newcomers from all walks of life. Zach Walton has a busy career in the oil field to balance with life as a husband and father of 5. Zach decided to try Vernal Theatre: LIVE last spring at his children’s request that he audition for Peter Pan and now at their request again he plays the hilarious role of His Royal Highness the King in Cinderella. “This is your classic story of Cinderella with a silly twist to it,” shares Zach. “This has really fun characters in there with fun music and a version of the story most people, like me, have never seen.” Not surprisingly, many in the cast wanted to be in the show because they are long-time fans of the Slipper and the Rose movie. Korinne Peacock plays a Princess and Servant which, for her, is a childhood dream come true. “This is unlike any other Cinderella that you’ll ever see,” shares Korinne. “This has the magic and flow of Cinderella but you also get other elements like a unique fairy Godmother, a focus on the Prince and a story that touches on issues that are real life. You do get that happy magical ending but it takes you on a different journey…There are more twists and turns that make it even more magical.” The final three nights of Slipper and the Rose are tonight, Friday, and Saturday with a curtain each night at 7:00 pm.
