Red Cross Blood Drives During the Pandemic

Life might seem to have been dragged to a halt because of the pandemic but it hasn’t stopped the need for essentials such as food, water, shelter and blood. Yes, blood. Red Cross has announced some changes during blood drives as a result of the pandemic include the following: All Red Cross staff do daily temperature and symptom checks prior to working and there is a temperature checking station before being allowed into the donation room. Everybody will wear masks, with masks being provided to those that need them, and hand sanitizer is readily available. The layout of the drive is more spread out with extra cleaning supplies being brought to clean surfaces. To reduce time spent at the blood drive, there will be a check-in computer at the reception table or individuals can use their own smartphones or computers ahead of time to check-in. Visit www.redcross.org to learn more about the new procedures and where to find the closest blood drive. A blood drive is being held at the Duchesne Stake Center on 130 South 300 East in Duchesne today. Drives are also coming up at the Uintah County Library on September 28th and at Kingsbury United Church of Christ in Vernal on October 6th.
