The Utah Department of Transportation made an announcement on Wednesday of the Top 10 construction projects they have planned for 2019 and adding important Highway 40 passing lanes made the list. This is great news after a rough winter full of accidents along the stretch of Highway 40 receiving the new lanes. Construction is expected to start this month on the 17 miles of Highway 40 on the west side of Strawberry Reservoir. The project will be adding passing lanes between mileposts 35 and 40 and is also installing new wildlife crossing and deer fencing as the area is notorious for vehicle/animal accidents. Construction will affect travel with up to 15 minute delays and one-way traffic with a pilot car. Construction is expected to be finished in 2020. During their press conference on Wednesday, UDOT announced that they have scheduled a total of 169 projects this year with a combined value of $2.1 billion dollars.
