Hearsay, gossip, hoax, rumors. In a time of uncertainty, it is certain that rumors will abound, and local law enforcement is meeting those rumors head on. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office wants it to be clear: TriCounty Health Department issued a travel ADVISORY but no one is actually restricted from leaving or returning to Duchesne, Uintah or Daggett Counties. It is asked that all avoid unnecessary travel outside the TriCounty area for the time being. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office also has a rumor to squash. On Thursday, they issued a press release stating that rumors about martial law are totally false. “We don’t have the need to call the military because our citizens are civil and we have no anticipation of this changing,” says Sheriff Labrum. “We need our community to remain united, to stay positive, and to shut down the rumors.” Law enforcement agencies in Uintah County are keeping up with calls for service and they are NOT asking for National Guard assistance now or in the near future.
