It’s been a smooth transition for a local probation program since changing name and ownership last spring. Katherine Yack of Uintah Basin Probation, previously TriCounty Probation, says she’s grateful for the skills she acquired while running the Meth No More program in Uintah County. “Meth No More is where I gained connections and built great relationships with many different local agencies,” shares Yack. “With those skills I’m able to help those on probation in new ways that I wouldn’t have been able to if I hadn’t been part of Meth No More.” Yack also emphasized that the working relationship between she and Sadie Norton, another local probation officer, has proven effective in doing their job locally. When asked what tips she has for the community in supporting those in probation, Yack says to keep them accountable while still giving them a chance. Unfortunately, people on probation often get turned away from jobs, says Yack, but what you don’t know is that these are the best kind of employees because they have everything to lose if the job doesn’t work out, so just give them a chance.
