UHP On Summer Travel

The 100 days of summer travel between Memorial and Labor Day are considered the
busiest days on Utah roads and Highway Patrol continues to urge caution. While the goal
is always zero fatalities on Utah roads, that period of time is also unfortunately known as
summer’s 100 deadliest days. The Uintah Basin, as well as the rest of the state, have
experienced fatalities this travel season with a total so far of over 125 fatalities on state
roadways for 2016. Local Highway Patrol Sgt. Kellie Oaks encourages Basin residents to
be cautious and alert during these last few weeks of vacation travel time. “We hope to get
through the rest of the travel season fatality free,” shares Sgt. Oaks. “Our local Highway
Patrol troopers really care about this community and love the residents throughout the
Basin. We will continue doing everything we can to keep the Basin safe and would be so
grateful if everyone would buckle up, be mindful of their speed, and increase their travel
distance.”
