Adjustments to a Vernal City project are aimed at avoiding future headaches. The City recently contracted with company Mountainland on the new radio read meter system funded by the Community Impact Board. In the original agreement, Vernal City planned to install the radio plug-ins. After consideration, however, City management recommended that Mountainland provide the equipment as well as the service of installing the equipment to avoid any future confusion. According to City Manager Ken Bassett, having the company take care of installation simplifies the process and minimizes the cost if there is a warranty issue in the future. Having Mountainland install the equipment pushes the cost of the project about $3000 dollars over the amount awarded by the CIB. The City Council approved the proposal and the $3000 dollars will come out of the City utility fund.
