A new wildfire started in Duchesne County on Tuesday and winds have slowed down firefighting efforts. The initial report from Utah Fire Info at 4:15pm estimated the Little Horse Fire burning southwest of Fruitland at 10 acres and growing due to gusty winds. The second Utah Fire Info report at 7pm on Tuesday estimated the Little Horse Fire at 100+ acres and reported that due to high winds, all aircraft had been grounded. Evacuation notice was given for Morning Star Ranch as well as Avintaquin Canyon down to the Strawberry River. The area has been under a Red Flag Warning, contributing to active fire behavior. It is burning on state land and as of Tuesday evening, there was 1 engine and a handcrew squad on the scene with 1 Large Air Tanker en route. The cause remains under investigation. All are urged to avoid the area and follow instructions from local officials.
