The latest wildfire in Moffat County is a reminder that all parents and guardians need to talk with all teens and kids about the dangerous dry conditions and the need to be fire wise. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the Pine Ridge Fire that was reported on Sunday on Moffat County Road 64 was the result of juveniles playing with matches and fireworks. The fire reached an estimated 24 acres and crews remain on scene conducting mop-up operations to extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire is fully secured. “This incident is a reminder that matches and fireworks are never toys,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “In the current dry conditions, it only takes a single spark to start a wildfire that can threaten lives, homes, livestock, and our public lands. Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences of playing with fire.”
