Locals are doing their part to change the world and they need your help. An upcoming fundraiser concert is shining a light on the cause of the 100 Humanitarians organization that helps provide necessary items to improve self reliance in Kenya, Africa. Kaci McNeel is among those involved and planning to go to Kenya to mentor young women who have been forced into early marriage and run away among other abuse. The cause will support more than just the young women, however, and include providing business boxes for every family chosen. “These business boxes,” explains McNeel, “provide each family with a cow, a goat, chickens, 10 trees and hygiene items. This helps them become self sufficient and able to feed their families as well as sell the surplus for other household needs and school fees for their children.” The organization is all about “teaching people to fish,” says McNeel, “and not just handing them the fish.” The local Koncert for Kenya fundraiser will be held
on Monday, September 26th from 6:00 to 8:00pm
at the Kokopelli event center at 145 East 100 North in Vernal. The concert will feature talented local musicians including Mark Winterton, Jill Boyd, Dan Hernandez, Dante Zubel, Isaac and Cutler Rust, Will Shackelton and Uintah Sound.
