Things have quieted down on the Grizzly Ridge Fire north of Vernal in the Ashley National Forest. The last report stated that the fire was 23 acres and the cause remained under investigation. The Buck Basin Fire northwest of Currant Creek Reservoir has been mapped at 145 acres and as 29% contained. Showers and thunderstorms are expected today in that area. The cause of the Buck Basin Fire has been determined as lightning. The PL Gulch Fire in Colorado’s Rio Blanco County continues to grow. As of Wednesday evening at 6pm, the PL Gulch Fire was 1404 acres and 5% contained. The PL Gulch fire is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The Colorado White River Field Office and the Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit will receive support from an incoming Type-3 Incident Management Team. It is expected the team will assume management of the fire Friday morning.
