Wildfires are not only plaguing Utah. Colorado is also being hit. The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office has shared updates on a new start on Monday located about 20 miles southwest of Meeker called the PL Gulch Fire. “The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls around 12:30pm reporting a new fire in the County Road 76 and County Road 5 area. The fire was reported burning in juniper and pinyon, with no imminent threat to structures… Rio Blanco Fire Protection District and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the scene. Initial attack efforts included ground personnel and aerial resources. Aerial operations have been temporarily suspended due to thunderstorms.” Power was shut off in the County Road 3 and County Road 76 area and may also affect residents along County Road 5. Also, for the safety of firefighters and emergency personnel working the incident, County Road 76 has been closed. By Monday at 7pm, the PL Gulch Fire was estimated at 150 acres.
