With the implementation of new laws, Vernal Police Department provided a report this week on their E-Bike law enforcement and education efforts. “Recently, our officers worked dedicated shifts focused on E-Bike laws and safety education throughout the community,” shares the announcement. “No citations were issued during these efforts. Officers used this as an opportunity to educate riders and local businesses that sell E-Bikes about current laws. Our goal is to promote safe riding habits and help ensure everyone can enjoy our community safely.” It’s important to note that riders must be 16 and over and have a driver’s license for all high power devices and e-motorcycles. The motorcycle endorsement is also required for the e-motorcycles. Everyone under 21 is required to wear a helmet. Throttle Devices and Class 1, 2, and 3 E-bikes for ages 8 to 15 require adult supervision or a certificate. Refer questions to your local law enforcement.
