The Uintah County Commission has announced a special public meeting for Monday, June 8th. Last month, Uintah County Attorney Jaymon J. Thomas announced his resignation, effective June 5th. The Uintah County Republican Party Central Committee convened on May 26th in response to the resignation and unanimously voted to submit three qualified individuals to the Uintah County Commission for consideration. The nominees are Nathan Rawlings, William Reynolds, and Mike Harrington. It was noted that Rawlings is the Committee’s top recommendation as he was overwhelmingly elected by county delegates at the 2026 Nominating Convention to assume the office of County Attorney beginning in 2027. The Committee stated that Reynolds and Harrington are also qualified to serve. The Commission must be ready to make a decision as Monday’s special Commission meeting has only one agenda item, the appointment and swearing in of a new county attorney. The meeting will begin at 9:00am.
