The Utah State Board of Education and Utah School Counselor Association has recognized two Uintah School District counselors. Eagle View Elementary School counselor Trever Birchell has been named the Elementary School Counselor of the Month. “Trever always goes the extra mile to walk beside any student he sets goals with to make sure they have the support and confidence they need to achieve,” says Eagle View Principal Chris Jones, “and then he celebrates each win, so students internalize that their efforts make all the difference in becoming a better person.” The second recognition is Ashley Valley Education Center counselor Mindy Deets as the High School Counselor of the Month. “Mindy is a miracle worker with some of the most fragile students in Uintah County School District,” shares AVEC Principal Andy McKea. “She is this person because she has a solid understanding of psychological safety, being a caring adult, and holding students accountable to education expectations.” Congratulations to both Trever Birchell and Mindy Deets on the Utah State Board of Education recognition.
