Vernal City Approaching a Decision on the Vernal BTA Bus Route

by | Oct 14, 2016 | News | 0 comments

Vernal City Council is expected to make a decision soon on whether or not to contribute funding for the BTA Vernal bus route. Vernal City took a close look at the City budget during the October 5th City Council meeting as funding for the BTA Vernal route was discussed. This summer BTA funding became a topic after Uintah County officials requested more financial support from benefitting entities. While the funding is already in place for BTA this year, it was announced that $90,000 is needed to fund the Vernal route annually into the future. Uintah County committed to paying half that amount if Vernal City would commit to funding the remaining half. UBAOG calculated the $90,000 dollar amount using a reduction from the actual costs of that route between July 1st, 2015 and June 30th, 2016. For that year, the Vernal route totalled $107,500 dollars. The $90,000 dollar amount presented reflects $17,500 dollars in cuts to that budget. It is anticipated that Vernal City will come to a decision during the joint City/County meeting
