Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office has brought attention to the fraudulent “court enforcement” notices being sent by text message. The notices appear official at first glimpse with official looking seals, court-style language, urgent payment demands, and a QR code. The fake notice claims to involve traffic violations, toll evasion, parking violations, license suspension, collections, and other court action. These are scare tactics designed to pressure people into scanning a QR code or making a payment. Do not scan suspicious QR codes. Do not click links or call numbers from unsolicited messages. Do not pay based on a text or unofficial notice. Verify court matters directly through official court contacts and report suspicious messages to your local law enforcement.
