The Uintah County GOP Nominating Convention was held last night at the Uintah Conference Center where Republican Party delegates from across the county voted for the candidates to represent the Republican Party on the 2026 election ballot. Steve Labrum for Sheriff was unopposed. Nathan Rawlings for Uintah County Attorney was the Convention winner with 87% of the vote over incumbent Uintah County Attorney Jaymon Thomas. The remaining county seats have two people proceeding to the Primary Election this summer. For County Commission Seat A, Keith Campbell and Matthew Wilber will proceed to the Primary. Randy Vincent and Richard Powell were eliminated by delegates. For County Commission Seat B, Joe McKea and Danny Harrell will proceed to the Primary. James Story and Guy Collett were eliminated by delegates. For Clerk/Auditor, Margie Shewell and Barry Johnson will proceed to the Primary. “We congratulate all of our Convention Winners and those advancing to the Primary,” shares Uintah County Republican Party Chairman Kason Goodrich. “Our party proudly supports the candidates chosen by our delegates—both those who won outright and those who earned their place on the Primary ballot through the convention process. These individuals honored the grassroots by standing before the delegates and earning their support. We also reaffirm an important principle: The Uintah County Republican Party does not support candidates who were eliminated at convention and then choose to bypass the delegates by gathering signatures. Our delegates are the backbone of this party, and their decisions matter.”
