Duchesne County Fire & Emergency Management has issued a Fire Restriction Order related to the extreme fire danger. The Order states, “Due to unseasonably dry weather and flammable vegetation, an extreme danger of fire exists under the current conditions throughout Duchesne County, Utah…The Duchesne County Fire &Emergency Management Director and County Fire Warden have jointly determined that existing conditions justify the implementation of fire restrictions within the unincorporated areas of Duchesne County. Therefore, open burning shall be closed from April 1 through May 31. This restriction shall not apply to campfires within established facilities in improved campgrounds or day use areas on public lands, nor to permanently constructed fire pits at permanent private dwellings provided that the dwelling is equipped with pressurized running water. Smoking shall only be allowed within an enclosed vehicle, building, or a developed recreation site. Portable stoves using gas or propane are allowed, but personal, portable wood/charcoal fire pits are banned. Welding, cutting, or grinding metal is prohibited in areas with dry vegetation but may be allowed provided that the area is cleared of vegetation and a designated person acts as a fire watch with the ability to extinguish fires including at a minimum a reasonable amount of water under the existing conditions. All fireworks are prohibited.” These remain in effect until June 1 or until rescinded. Failure to comply is a violation of law and subject to criminal or civil penalties.
