USSD1 Water Conservation Announcement

by | Apr 9, 2026 | News | 0 comments

Uintah Special Service District 1 has issued a public service announcement with a few updates and reminders for the public regarding water use and conservation. The main announcement is that the Naples Splash Pad will not open for the 2026 season and the use of inflatables in parks has been restricted. This is because inflatables can suffocate turf during drought conditions. Irrigation practices are being adjusted to reduce overall water usage and as watering is reduced, turf conditions will change. Grass may appear dry, brown, or crunchy. This is expected but it also means the turf is much more vulnerable. “Heavy use on stressed grass can cause long-term damage that we may not be able to recover from,” shares the announcement. “We ask for your help: Be mindful of park use when turf is stressed; Avoid high-impact activities on dry or damaged grass areas; Help us protect these spaces so they can recover and remain usable for the community.” Please report any malfunctioning sprinkler heads or irrigation issues right away by calling the Uintah Recreation Center at 435-781-0982.
