National Weather Service is spreading the word of a potential widespread freeze with the shift from record high temperatures back to cooler weather. Valley rain and snow in the mountains is anticipated today. Check travel conditions as the region will have heavy snow in high elevations with potential travel impacts this morning along the higher passes. Roads become wet by afternoon due to milder air. While showers will be scattered throughout, some areas could see moderate to heavy precipitation rates at times. Also to note, “valleys have potential for freeze tonight with more widespread freeze potential in many locations Thursday night through Saturday night before temperatures warm back up again.”
