Raises for Uintah County elected officials has been a hot topic among the public in recent years and is once again up for consideration. A ‘2026 Executive Officers Compensation Public Hearing’ notice has been issued, stating, “Notice is hereby given by the Uintah County Commissioners that a public hearing will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 3:00pm in the Uintah County Commission Chambers to consider planned merit and service awards for executive county officers in the 2026 Budget, pursuant to UCA 17-66-401.” This applies to Uintah County elected officials and department heads, not county employees in general. The Utah Legislature has implemented the statute requiring that counties hold a public hearing when compensation increases, including cost of living adjustments or merit awards, are being considered. Tuesday’s public hearing is taking place at 3pm in the Uintah County Commission Chambers.
