A small wildland fire named the Park Fire was reported on Tuesday afternoon in Uintah County. The Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department reports that at approximately 3:19pm on Tuesday, fire crews responded to the Park Fire near 7550 East on Highway 40. Highway 40 was temporarily shut down due to heavy smoke that reduced visibility in the area but crews were able to quickly contain the fire, preventing further spread. The Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department offered the following reminder to the community: “All controlled burns must be called in to Dispatch before burning. Please make sure you maintain defensible space around your property. If a fire does get out of control, call it in as soon as possible so crews can respond quickly and keep it small…Stay safe and fire-smart out there.” The Park Fire burned approximately ¾ of an acre.
