Senator Winterton Legislative Review

by | Mar 18, 2026 | News | 0 comments

Senator Ron Winterton recently visited the Evans Family Media studios for an interview recapping the 2026 legislative session. Senator Winterton shared that the session had over 1500 bill files opened, over 900 of those presented in committees, and 542 bills passed during the session. He emphasized that that is way too many during the legislative session but bills to restrict that number, including limiting how many each legislator can propose, have so far not made it through. The interview with Senator Winterton aired on Newstalk KVEL on Monday, March 16th. Interview topics discussed include the Uintah Basin’s water sources and state funding available to assist on needed projects, potential funding for local infrastructure needs relative to the Uinta Railway, the Heber Bypass project, economic growth and plans to construct a data center in the Uintah Basin, and more. Additional news stories on these topics will also be shared this week. To listen to Senator Winterton’s interview, visit BasinNow.com and click on Public Affairs under the Community tab.
