A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a vehicle was found on fire and property damage was reported at a Vernal business on Saturday. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a call at about 5:30am on March 14th that a white pickup was on fire near 1500 East 500 North in Vernal. B&B Roustabout was found to be the registered owner of the vehicle. “Assisting Officers on scene of the fire found what appeared to be brush and straw like debris inside the cab. The fire appeared to be intentionally caused as no individuals were located in the immediate area. The pickup was also seen with front end damage…The gate to [B&B Roustabout near 1000 East 100 South] was demolished and found almost in the roadway. The damage appeared to be from a vehicle striking the gate.” Video footage revealed 22-year-old Kaden Bell wandering inside the enclosed gated area of the business property. He “was seen entering a Semi truck, belonging to B&B, followed by starting the engine for the previously mentioned white Ram pickup… Kaden approach[ed] the driver side door to that truck, which began to pull forward shortly thereafter. The truck then collides into the gate and flees the area at approximately 3:29am.” It was also discovered that the driver side window of the semi truck on the property was broken… Blood stains were found in the vehicles Kaden got into. Investigators were able to gather surveillance footage from nearby businesses. At some point Kaden is confirmed on video footage inside a bar where he was kicked out due to being severely intoxicated. In the video, Kaden is observed raising his hands, showing what appeared to be an actively bleeding wound to his right palm. Investigators also noted that Kaden has a revoked Utah license due to alcohol offense and an ignition interlock device is required while driving. Witnesses reported to officers that Kaden came to their residence around 4am asking for help locating his phone. An additional witness reported that Kaden stated that he had stolen a truck and was going to “torch” it. The Affidavit stated that Kaden was later located by officers. He was arrested and is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Arson and Theft of a Motor Vehicle; 3rd Degree Felony Theft, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Property Destruction; and Misdemeanor charges including Property Damage, Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Driving on a Denied License, and more.
