A traffic stop ended in arrest in Uintah County earlier this month. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a vehicle was pulled over for speeding and the officer approached the vehicle and observed a meth pipe in plain sight. The driver, identified as Donald Coles, was detained. During the vehicle search, multiple scales were located, multiple torches, and multiple cell phones. Also found was a user amount of methamphetamine as well as two large sandwich bags that were full, containing large quantities of a white crystal substance consistent with methamphetamine…Inside of the vehicle there were also weapons located with live rounds chambered, including a 9mm pistol and a shotgun that had loaded rounds in the barrel. A Social Security card and birth certificate, both containing different names than who he identified as, were located in the vehicle. The names did not match his Virginia issued drivers license ID. Donald also had a debit card in his wallet that did not have his name on it. Based off of Donald’s extensive criminal history, prior eluding, distribution and fraud charges, him saying he was from multiple places, his story changing multiple times, and his comment made in the jail that he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible, Donald was listed as a substantial flight risk and no bail was requested. 32-year-old Donald Gerald Nathaniel Coles is charged with 1st Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and 3rd Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Prohibited Dangerous Weapon Conduct, and Unlawful Possession of a Financial Card, among other misdemeanor charges, including DUI. While initially ordered to be held on bond, a bail/bond hearing was scheduled for this week.
