An arrest was made after a theft was observed at the Stewart’s Marketplace in Roosevelt. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, employees observed a male, later identified as Trevor Phillips, place items into a shopping basket and walk past all points of sale without rendering payment before exiting the store with the items. Employees confronted the man outside the store and asked to see a receipt which he refused before leaving in a black Dodge Challenger. Investigators used store surveillance to positively identify Phillips as the individual who committed the theft of merchandise totalling $527. Two days later on March 9th, officers were able to initiate a traffic stop on Phillips in Roosevelt and informed him that he was under arrest for the March 7th theft. During the stop, Phillips was unable to provide proof of insurance and the vehicle was impounded. Phillips was also found to be driving on a denied license. Multiple items of Marijuana, Marijuana Vape pens, and Mariuana joint tubes were located in the vehicle, as well as a loaded Kimber .45 pistol located on the passenger seat. 26-year-old Trevor Eugene Phillips was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Category II Prohibited Dangerous Weapon Conduct and Possession of a Controlled Substance, as well as Theft, Driving on a Denied License, and Operating a Vehicle without Insurance.
