150 UBTech students came together last month at the Roosevelt campus to compete across 8 skill-based categories at the annual UBTech Student Showcase. Area businesses participate as judges, prize sponsors, and subject-matter experts, providing students with valuable feedback and real-world insight into their chosen fields. “It was an honor to participate in the Showcase and work with both the students and instructors,” shared Lana McDonald, Sysco representative. “The experience was very rewarding. The students were proud of their work, pushed themselves, and showed real dedication. Even with the same base recipe, each student brought creativity through their own textures and flavors. It was a lot of fun, and I’d love to be involved again.” Automotive Instructor Tyler McKee shared that “automotive students rotate through 13 different stations, each designed to test a specific skill. There’s no way we could offer a competition of this depth without the support of our local industry partners who volunteer their time, expertise, and resources.” For the complete list of students who placed in the UBTech Student Showcase competitions, find the UBTech press release on ubtech.edu/latest-news.
