A Uintah student is a finalist in a prestigious scholarship competition. Uintah High senior Rykan Hacking has been selected as a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship. “Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test,” shares the announcement. “Each year, about 15,000 finalists are selected from the semifinalists who are named in September. As a finalist, Hacking will be considered for one of 6,870 Merit Scholarships, which will be awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in March.” Rykan is also an accomplished athlete having just earned his 3rd individual state wrestling title and was named a February Athlete of the Week by the Utah High School Activities Association.
