Personal use of a company card caught up to a local man after the local business approached law enforcement for help identifying who was behind the fraudulent credit card activity. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the card had been used through November and December and an ex-employee was the suspect. Investigators contacted stores in several cities, including Rangely and Vernal, and were able to link one of the purchases with a replacement plan purchased by a different employee who had just quit coming to work sometime in December. Video surveillance was also acquired from some of the purchases, confirming that the culprit was that employee. A total of 82 purchases had been made on the card for a grand total of $2,398. 20-year-old Elias Davis was arrested and is charged with two 3rd Degree Felony counts of Unlawful Possession and Unlawful Use of a Financial Card.
