Demolition of the motel portion of the Lamplighter property in downtown Vernal got underway on Wednesday. This is the main action in Phase 1 of the Vernal Community Block Plan which will transform that area of downtown over a period of at least 7 years. The motel demolition and cleanup is the main work anticipated on the property this year. It does not include the Lamplighter Inn located on the northwest corner of the property. The Block Plan’s Phase 1 objectives also include beginning the design development and construction documentation for the site and continuing to apply for grant funding to support eligible improvements. The demolition completion date is anticipated in mid-March.
