If you haven’t been dreaming of a white February and March, now might be the time to try manifesting that outcome. The Utah Department of Natural Resources shared an update on the current data. As of January 28th, snowpack in the Northeastern Uintas is 73% of the average while the Duchesne River Basin is at 72%. While definitely not good, northeastern Utah is actually doing much better in this regard than the rest of the state, with the majority of the rest of the state reporting between 20% and 60%. “It’s official, and the numbers are tough: Utah has hit a new record low for statewide snowpack,” shares the Utah Department of Natural Resources. “Snow accounts for approximately 95% of Utah’s water supply. While our soil moisture is high, which helps with runoff efficiency, we need significant snowfall in February and March to bridge this gap.”
