The BLM Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment for the Hoy Well Pad located about 26 miles southeast of Vernal in Uintah County. According to the BLM announcement, the Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve 15 Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Middle Fork Energy Uinta LLC, to drill gas wells producing from federal minerals. The EA also analyzed 17 future wells, meaning up to 32 total wells could potentially be authorized pursuant to the analysis. The project area includes both BLM-administered lands and Utah Trust Lands Administration surface. All surface-disturbing activities will be within the Red Wash Unit.
