Brandishing and discharging a firearm had consequences for an individual on Saturday in Uintah County. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers were dispatched to a residence after a caller claimed he had been shot at while entering a home to retrieve a key. “According to the victim, as he was entering the residence, he heard yelling and then a loud pop noise, what he assumed to be a gunshot. After he was inside the residence, he locked the doors in an attempt to keep anyone else from entering. As the victim looked outside the window near the door, he saw Jeffery Stuver standing in front of the door, with a firearm in hand. [The victim told officers] he was scared he was going to be shot and couldn’t believe what was going on. The victim stated Jeffery was yelling at him through the door asking him what he was doing inside the residence. According to the victim, he had been at the residence days before obtaining the post office box key to check and see if his passport had arrived. [It was] confirmed with [the owner] that the victim had permission to enter his residence to obtain the Post Office key. [Officers] conducted an interview with Jeffery Stuver… Jeffery stated he observed the victim pull up to the property, and was yelling at him, inquiring as to why he was on the property. Jeffery then stated he obtained a firearm from his trailer, which is on the same property, and continued yelling at the victim, at which point he discharged the firearm into the air. He then stated he went up to the residence and made contact with the victim through the door, still having the firearm in his hand but claiming he was not pointing it at the victim.” Jeffrey Tyler Stuver was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault.
