The 2026 Utah Legislative Session got underway last week and the Vernal City Youth Council took the opportunity to attend local officials day on Wednesday. “As part of the experience, youth councils from across the state had the opportunity to participate in mock floor debates, submitting their own policy proposals and learning firsthand how an idea becomes law,” shares the announcement. “Students explored the Utah legislative process—from committee review to full House or Senate debate—gaining insight into how local voices can shape state policy. This hands-on experience gave our Youth City Council members a deeper understanding of civic leadership, public service, and the importance of informed participation in government.” Well done to the Vernal City Youth City Council on getting involved and preparing for a future of leading and serving in the Uintah Basin.
