The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, a 14-year-old juvenile was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike. According to witnesses, the juvenile was riding an e-bike southbound on a gravel canal access road near 1500 South 1350 West when he crossed into traffic. The driver of a truck headed westbound on 1500 South attempted to stop to avoid hitting the juvenile, but was unable to do so. The truck struck the juvenile, throwing him approximately 30 feet. The juvenile sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The incident is still being investigated.
