The Bureau of Land Management recently announced updated plans aimed at striking the balance between conservation and public lands access when it comes to greater-sage grouse. This has been a topic for well over a decade in the Uintah Basin, along with lands throughout the western United States. The BLM reports that the updated plans will enhance conservation of greater sage-grouse habitat while balancing access to public lands for responsible energy and mineral development across 8 western states, including Utah. “We are strengthening American energy security while ensuring the sage-grouse continues to thrive,” shares Acting BLM Director Bill Groffy. “Healthy sagebrush country powers our communities, sustains wildlife and supports the economies that make the West strong.” The updated plans are available on the BLM National NEPA Register at eplanning.blm.gov.
