Inspired by similar offerings around the state, a warming center is opening in Vernal this week and volunteers are needed. The ‘Heart of the Basin Warming Center’ will provide a warm location during the cold nighttime hours at 65 East 100 North with plans to start operation this Friday. The ‘Heart of the Basin’ mission is “to provide a safe and welcoming space for individuals and families experiencing hardship in the Uintah Basin. We are committed to offering shelter, resources, and compassionate support to help individuals and families find stability.” Those able to volunteer for evening, overnight, or morning shifts are asked to visit ‘Heart of the Basin’ on Facebook or Instagram to learn more and sign up to volunteer.
