The 2026 race is on for local county elected officials. As of early Friday morning, those listed on the Uintah County website as having declared candidacy in Uintah County include Matthew Wilber, Randy Vincent, Richard Powell, Keith Campbell, and Andrena Marchant for Commission Seat A; Guy Collett, James Story, Tracie Smith, Ronald Richards, Danny Harrell, and Joe McKea for Commission Seat B; incumbent Jaymon J. Thomas and Nathan Rawlings for Attorney; Barry Johnson and Margie Shewell for Clerk-Auditor; and incumbent Steve Labrum for Sheriff. Candidates for Uintah School Board #1 are Dave Chivers and Ashlee Richardson; for School Board #2 are Denise Maynard, Jared Putnam, and Ashley Knowlton; and School Board #3 are Robin McClellan and Travis Allan. The window to declare candidacy closed on January 8th.
