2026 Candidacy Filing Window Closes This Thursday At 5pm

The opportunity to run for office in 2026 is still open but candidacy filing ends this Thursday. As of early Wednesday morning, those listed on the Duchesne County website as having declared candidacy in Duchesne County include incumbents Ross Tracy Killian for Commission Seat A, Gregory Miles for Commission Seat B, Chelise Curtis for County Clerk/Auditor, Travis Tucker for Sheriff, and Ronald Winterton for State Senate #20. JR Bird has declared candidacy for State House #67. No candidate is listed for County Attorney. Candidates for School Board #1 is Tyler Powell and Tony L. Smith, for School Board #2 is Don Busenbark, and School Board #3 is Emilee Serena Wells. As of early Wednesday morning, those listed on the Uintah County website as having declared candidacy in Uintah County include Matthew Wilber for Commission Seat A, Guy S. Collett for Commission Seat B, incumbent Jaymon J. Thomas for Attorney, Barry Johnson for Clerk-Auditor, incumbent Steve Labrum for Sheriff, and incumbent Scott H. Chew for State House #68. Candidates for School Board #1 is Dave W. Chivers, School Board #2 is Denise R. Maynard, and School Board #3 has no candidate listed. Candidacy filing for all offices ends on January 8th at 5pm. Filing fees vary depending on the office but are listed in the 2026 Election Notice for each county. Contact your county clerk/auditor office for more information.
