Local law enforcement have a message for all as we say farewell to 2025 and ring in 2026: Make safety the top priority. Utah Highway Patrol urges all to plan in advance if choosing to celebrate with alcohol. Law enforcement agencies will be cracking down on impaired drivers. UHP reports that this year as of December 10th on Utah roads, there have been a total of 238 fatal crashes with a total of 250 fatalities. There have been 633 alcohol-related crashes with 24 resulting in fatalities. Drug-related fatalities reached 58. There will be zero tolerance for impaired driving as law enforcement agencies work over 300 extra shifts to stop impaired drivers on Utah roads. On celebrating the New Year, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has shared, “We would ask people to make a plan before you party. Don’t get behind the wheel if you have been drinking. Be responsible, get a ride, take a cab, just don’t drive…and Happy New Year!”
