Ute wrestling is starting the season right on and off the mat. The team honored 14 fallen Utah officers
before Wednesday’s
home opener. While the team’s win over Maple Mountain that night was a great thing as a regional success, Coach Gregg Stensgard says he is most proud of how the wrestlers are taking to heart the privilege to honor these fallen officers whose names are on their uniforms. “My wrestlers asked if they could come and meet the families [before the ceremony],” says Coach Stensgard. “It really touched those families…[The wrestlers] wanted to thank them. They have bought into something bigger than wrestling.” Uintah Wrestling is encouraging any who are able, to donate to the the Blue Haven Foundation, an organization that helps families of fallen officers get on their feet after losing their loved one. The Uintah Wrestling team took 3rd overall at the Layton Invitational Tournament over the weekend.
