The slump after the holidays can be a real thing for many but Roosevelt City has an event aimed at battling those winter blues. The annual Winterfest has transformed over the years but it started thanks to a local dentist who wanted to see a winter activity in Roosevelt that got more people outside. That first year focused on cross country skiing and since then has grown into a variety of fun family activities throughout the month of January. “The cold may be taking its time but we will be ready for it when January comes around!” shares the announcement. “Winterfest activities will be here before you know it! Please help us get the word out! Share it with your friends, tell a neighbor, bug a stranger, but lets get the word out there!” Activities kick off on January 3rd with free open swim at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center. The fun continues throughout the month and includes snow globe making on January 13th, pickleball and hot cocoa on January 23rd, and a puzzling tournament on January 31st. Find the entire Winterfest schedule on the ‘Roosevelt Arts, Parks, & Recreation’ Facebook page.
