The Bureau of Land Management announced on Monday the approval of a permit to drill wells in Uintah County. The Vernal Field Office issued an Environmental Assessment and decision record that authorizes approval of Applications for Permit to Drill for up to seven oil wells from a new well pad with an associated access road and pipeline corridor as proposed by FourPoint Resources LLC. The decision approving the proposed action was signed December 22nd. In addition to accepting public input into the proposed project’s NEPA process, the BLM is also inviting interested parties to help identify “the area of potential effect, appropriate cultural resource identification efforts, the determination of effects to historic properties, and if necessary, the resolution of adverse effects for the proposed project.” The project location is on private land in Uintah County. The target minerals are Indian Trust administered by the BLM.
